A MAN has arrested in connection with a collision on the M11 yesterday.
The 50-year-old from Basildon was taken from the scene to hospital due to his injuries.
While the man was there, police received reports hospital staff were abused an officer was assaulted.
He remains in custody on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs and drink, failing to provide an evidential sample, careless driving, assaulting an emergency working and causing alarm and distress.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 7.50pm on Sunday with reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the southbound carriageway between junctions eight and seven.
"A woman was taken to hospital for her injuries and they are no longer being treated as serious.
"We received information that a number of vehicles drove the wrong way after getting caught in traffic. We will be looking to take action against them."
