Here’s a medley of memories for you.
These vintage photos all show backstage scenes from bygone Southend Music Festivals.
The historic event has been going since 1911 and these snaps are from the festivals of the 1980s, which were a huge draw for Southend’s all-singing and all-dancing youngsters.
Although music was the primary theme, the event was not just about singing and instrumental performances, there was dancing, dramatics and plenty of costumed capers going on too.
This year’s Southend Music Festival will be held between November 8-23.
The prestigious event is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals, whose patron is the Queen.
