ROAD closures at a busy Southend junction will be in place for two weeks from today (Saturday) so traffic surveys can be completed.

The temporary road closures will begin near to The Bell junction, with access to Denton Approach to and from the eastbound A127 will be closed and the right-hand turn at the traffic lights on The Bell junction from the west-bound A127 into Rochford Road, will also be closed.

The traffic surveys are part of the preparation work by Southend Council to support the junction improvement scheme. The closures will stay in place from Saturday for two weeks.

Residents, businesses and nearby schools have all been informed and temporary road signs will be in place.

The A127 will remain open in both directions.

Ron Woodley, cabinet member for transport, capital and inward investment, said: “The traffic survey is an essential part of understanding how motorists use the junction and the number of vehicles passing through. Whilst we apologise for any inconvenience caused, the closures are important to get accurate results for the survey and for the development of the future plans for the junction.”

The closures will be continuous for the two week period.
