A MAN has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding five times in Rayleigh.

Robin Haque gave false details in an attempt to prevent receiving speeding tickets has been disqualified from driving for six months and must pay a £1,080 fine.

Haque’s first recorded offence was driving at 64mph in a 50mph zone on the A127 near Rayleigh on January 1 this year.

After receiving a penalty notice and a warning letter, Haque nominated the false details of a resident at an address in East Ham.

Officers from Essex Police's Casualty Reduction Section then discovered that Haque had attempted to use similar false details on four other occasions where he had been issued speeding tickets.

He was found guilty at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday November 12.

Haque, of Walton Road, London, received 30 points on his driving licenses, has been disqualified for six months and will have to pay a total of £1,080 across fines, cost and victim surcharges.

PC Dan Cordwell of the Casualty Reduction Section said: “I hope this serves as a message to people living, working in or travelling to and from Essex.

“If you give false details and break the law in our county, we will find you and we will prosecute you.

"There is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour, and I hope Haque’s ban, points and fines serves as a warning to those thinking about nominating false details.”
