A police cordon is in place after a man was assaulted inside a house in Rayleigh.

Police officers and forensics are currently on scene.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 3.50pm on Tuesday, October 2 with reports a man had been assaulted at an address in Down Hall Road, Rayleigh.

"We attended and found a man with a cut to his leg, which was not believed to be life threatening.

"A 19-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently in custody for questioning."
