The battle lines are being drawn over who should takeover from National Express East Anglia.
Commuter groups have different ideas over the ideal bid but both the Witham and Braintree Rail Users Association and the Kelvedon Rail Users Association are in agreement that the room for improvement is vast.
The seven year term of the National Express East Anglia franchise will come to an end next February with a three companies- Abellio, Go-Ahead and Stagecoach- bidding to run the service for the following 17 months.
They will then be given a optional 12 month extension before the decision over who will be awarded a 15 year contract for the service.
