LOOK out for road closures because of this weekend’s Colchester Zoo Stampede event.

Various roads in Stanway, Birch and Copford are shutting because of the popular 10km run.

The roads that are closing include the B1022, Beckingham Hall Road, Maldon Road, Birch Road, Easthorpe Road, Rectory Road, Fountain Lane, Hardy’s Green, Maldon Road and Rectory Road.

A temporary one-way system will also come into force on part of the B1022, from its junction with Warren Lane to Colchester Zoo.

The restrictions will apply on Sunday.

Alternative routes will apply.

* Drivers should note that a new one-way system is soon coming into operation in St Nicholas Street, in Colchester town centre.

The restriction will apply from its junction with Culver Street East and Long Wyre Street to its junction with High Street.

* Look out for temporary road closures in a busy village.

Head Street, in Rowhedge, is closing from its junctions with Chapel Street and High Street.

High Street is also closing from its junction with Sunbeam Close.

The closures will only apply for a day on June 6, while cable works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Marsh Crescent, Rowhedge Road, Fingringhoe Road, Weir Lane, Rectory Road and Head Street.

Braintree and Witham Times: Essex County Council

* Huxtables Lane, in Fordham Heath, is closing from its junction with Heath Road for three days from June 7.

It is while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available to motorists via Huxtables Lane, Spring Lane, Heath Road and The Bridleway.

* A West Mersea road will be out of bounds for three days from June 9.

The Lane is shutting from its junction with Firs Chase while blockage clearance works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Coast Road, Firs Chase and The Lane.

* Pole and duct installation works are being undertaken by Openreach in Layer Road, Abberton.

It will close from its junction with Rectory Lane for nine days from June 9.

An alternative route is available via Layer Road, Mersea Road, Weir Lane, Blackheath, Berechurch Hall Road, Bounstead Road, Bounstead Hill and Abberton Road.

Penlan Hall Lane, in Fordham, is closing on June 7 while overhead cable works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

* Abbots Road, in Colchester, is shutting from its junctions with Mersea Road and Old Heath Road, for three days from May 24.

It is while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

* Look out for a lengthy road closure in Weeley Heath.

Mill Lane is closing for 19 days from May 24, while vehicle crossing works are being undertaken by V & B Homes.

* A reminder that North Station Road, in Colchester, is closing from its junctions with the Essex Hall roundabout to the Albert roundabout on Sunday, May 23, and Sunday, May 30.

It is while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.
