CREW members on a motorboat had to be rescued by lifeboat and coastguard teams after their engine failed to work properly.
Last Friday afternoon a vessel departed the Shotley Marina before aimlessly drifting down the River Stour as a result of experiencing engine issues.
After being informed of the stranded crew, at about 3pm, members of the RNLI Harwich rushed to their aid, deploying the all-weather lifeboat.
The team took the motorboat back to the marina, where there were assisted by the Holbrook Coastguard Rescue Team.
On arrival the team set up ropes, briefed the crew and proceeded to pull the boat through the lock and on to a guest pontoon.
A spokesman for the coastguard team said: “Both crew were safe and well, so we left them to arrange repairs.”
