The walking football league is hoping to launch on April 1
FOLLOWING a potential new walking football league launching on April 1, Harwich’s side have changed their name.
The previously known ‘Harwich Hornets’ will now be known as Harwich Walking Football Club.
They will be one of many teams looking to compete in the Suffolk and Essex Border Walking Football League starting next month.
Club Chairman Derek Murr said the name is ‘more symbiotic’ with the town and ‘presents a better image’.
They are also seeking new players so they can enter three teams into the new league.
Little Oakley also have a walking side due to compete in the league.
