YOUNG farmers are preparing for the return of an annual muck run around Colchester.

Colchester Young Farmers' Club is organising a socially-distanced cow muck run around the town and surrounding villages on a pre-oder only basis.

This year the club members will not be knocking on doors with their bags of plant fertiliser due to coronavirus restrictions.

The deliveries will be taking place on Saturday, March 6.

The recommended donations for two bag loads of muck is £5, and the bags weigh about 15kg each.

A spokesman for the club said: "All donations raised at this event will be going to the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation, a great charity which provides much needed support for teenagers and young people suffering with cancer, and their families.

"They also carry out important research into the causes and effects of cancer in young people."

Runners will only be able to take cash on the day and will leave a tub by people's doors to place it in.
