POLICE are on the lookout for a group of men who assaulted a store employee while trying to commit fraud.

The men attempted to fraudulently use credit and debit cards in the Maharaj General Store in Maldon Road, Hatfield Peverel.

On February 5, three men entered the store just before 5.35pm and ran up a four-figure sum across multiple cards.

When challenged by an employee, one of the men assaulted her, and the group left the shop.

It is believed they were driving a white car - potentially a Vauxhall Zafira - and left in the direction of Maldon.
