A NEW-LOOK playground has reopened to the public following a major upgrade.

New and updated equipment has been installed at the Coggeshall Recreation Ground following months of hard work by volunteers and the community.

Coggeshall Parish Council, which has been working on the project, says the renovated park is now more accessible and imaginative for youngsters.

The council says the equipment was in "desperate need" of replacing,

Chairman Jochen Culemann said: "The Big Park Project Fundraising Group has helped the Parish Council to make this fantastic project a reality.

"A big thank you to those who have been and still are involved in that project. We are looking forward to seeing the results of this first stage of the project.

"This playground means so much to many families in Coggeshall and the new equipment will provide an exciting and more inclusive play space.

"Its importance cannot be underestimated especially in the present difficult times."

The parish council and community groups have worked hard to raise the £150,000 needed for the renovation.

They secured the cash through fundraising events and grants.

Plans are still in the pipeline to add new toddler friendly play equipment at the recreation ground next year.
