A CENTENARIAN has marked her milestone birthday with cake and balloons despite lockdown.
Winifred Woodham, who lives at Larchwood Care home in Braintree, turned 100 last week.
To mark the special occasion staff at the home set about getting things perfect for the day.
They decked out Winifred’s room with balloons and birthday banners.
Winifred was also overwhelmed with gifts from relatives, colleagues and fellow residents at the home.
Her gifts included her favourite flowers, perfume, chocolates and a selection of beautiful cards.
Winifred said her favourite thing was fresh flowers and she was over the moon with the beautiful arrangement sent to her.
The home’s head chef made Winifred a birthday cake which the team presented her to her while singing Happy Birthday.
But to top off the day, was the birthday card sent by none other than the Queen herself, much to Winifred’s delight.
She thanked staff and said they made her day special and she loved her cake and card from the Queen.
Home Manager, Jade Leigh Smith, said: “Winifred celebrated her 100th birthday exactly how she wanted to and it was lovely to see how much she enjoyed her day.”
