A THIEF has been jailed for stealing a van with £1,000 worth of tools inside.
Ryan Boreham, 27, of Elizabeth Way, Halstead, admitted stealing the van when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
He was arrested by Essex Police officers on Thursday 19 November after being tracked down to Braintree.
Police responded to reports of a Ford Transit van being stolen from White Horse Avenue in Halstead between November 12 and November 13.
Inside the van was also and estimated £1,000 worth of tools.
Following the arrest, officers charged Mr Boreham on with the theft of the van before detaining him.
Mr Boreham was held in custody until the next day on Friday 20 November where he was brought before a magistrate in Colchester.
There Mr Boreham pled guilty to the theft of the van and was sentenced.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Ryan Boreham, 27, of Elizabeth Way, Halstead appeared at Colchester magistrates court on 20/11/2020 where he pled guilty to theft of a motor vehicle.
"He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and to pay the victim £128."
