Colchester Zoo fans will be able to support the attraction and have fun during lockdown and beyond after it launched a number of items.

The Maldon Road attraction has added Colchester Zoo Monopoly to its popular Top Trumps game.

The zoo is now closed until at least December 2 due to the second national lockdown.

During the pandemic, the zoo has been hit hard financially after having to close during the two lockdowns and only allow limited numbers of visitors during the summer.

Throughout the pandemic it has still faced bills of around £25,000 a day.

Supporters helped raise more than £100,000 for the facility’s operating fund, but the zoo says support is needed now more than ever.

Visitors can get the two games via the zoo's online shop.

In the special edition of Monopoly players will adopt some of the animals at Colchester Zoo.

Braintree and Witham Times:

The game costs £39.99 and can be posted or picked up via 'click and collect'.

The Top Trumps game contains 30 animal cards, featuring some of your favourite species.

It costs £6.99.

A zoo spokesman said: "Our current online system is not built to be a shop for retail items but we are pleased to be able to offer a small number of Colchester Zoo branded products to purchase online during our closure.

"This is a great way for you to be able to support Colchester Zoo during this uncertain time and help towards the care of our animals.

"Due to high demand and low staffing at this time please expect a slight delay in the receiving of your order should you choose to have your items posted."

Visitors can also buy gift vouchers, zoo adoptions and animal experiences online.
