Further to the excellent letter from Samantha Quek (Standard, October 8), giving information on the Stroke Association’s Give a Hand and Bake week, we would like to draw attention to the Maldon and Dengie Stroke and Carers’ Support Group.
This is an organisation run entirely by volunteers which has been providing support to Stroke survivors and their carers for the last 11 years, under the auspices of the Stroke Association.
Until Covid-19, we ran meetings at Fullbridge Church, Maldon. Since lockdown, we have been pleased to be able to continue to support our members – albeit remotely - from the Maldon and Dengie area, and to welcome new ones. We have been keeping in touch with telephone calls, zoom meetings, newsletters, a Facebook page and more.
For help and advice, the Stroke Association National helpline number is 0303 3033 100 or they can be emailed at helpline@stroke.org.uk
To get in touch with us locally, we have a designated group telephone, number 07989 155312 and would be very pleased to hear from anyone who has suffered from, or is caring for someone who has had a stroke.

Secretary, Maldon and Dengie Stroke and Carers’ Support Group
