MANNINGTREE’S poppy appeal is launching this weekend.

The appeal will be launching tomorrow at 11am at the war memorial in High Street.

This year’s appeal has been reduced due to the restrictions imposed for Covid-19.

Poppies have been distributed and can be obtained from the following places in Ardleigh: The service station; the Wooden Tender; and the village shop.

They can also be bought from Bradfield Post Office, Mistley Thorn, and Mistley Post Office as well as Honeycroft Post Office, in Lawford, and Lawford’s service station.

In Manningtree, the poppies can be collected from Howells, Gifts and Greetings, De’aths Bakery, Cafe Rio, Estuary Wine Bar, The Skinners Arms, The Crown, The Lion, Barclays, Moby Vic’s, Mobyz Ink, Saddlers, Boots, Riverside Chippy, Car Spa, Station Buffet, Tesco Express and the Co-op.

A spokesman for the poppy appeal said: “Weather permitting, we will also be at our war memorial from 11am until 3pm daily with a stall of poppy merchandise.

“If it rains, we will be at The Crown. It’s at this time of year our communities come out in force to support our Armed Forces and it’s heartwarming to know how important it is for people to be able to do this and be able to wear a poppy with pride.”
