A 22-year-old man has been arrested at Stansted Airport on terror-related charges.

The Metropolitan Police said the man had been arrested on suspicion of encouraging terrorism and dissemination of terrorist publications.

He was detained at the airport at about 5.30pm on Monday and taken into custody at a central London police station.

The man was further arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of collection of information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

He remains in police custody and a warrant for further detention has been granted by Westminster Magistrates’ Court, allowing officers to detain him until Monday.
