DRIVERS is Halstead are facing long journey times after massive pot hole opened up on a vital road.
Reports suggest the mini-roundabout connecting Head Street, Sudbury Road and Colchester Road by St Andrew's church is current out of commission after being closed for emergency repairs.
Eyewitnesses have said the road has sunken where roadworks were conduected in recent weeks.
It is believed road repairs are already underway with the roundabout closed off from Sudbury Road.
Some residents have said they saw a pothole on the road increase in size throughout the day with the junction being closed just in time for rush hour traffic.
It has been said drivers are being forced to re-route through the town causing traffic chaos and long queues.
One driver reported it took 30 minutes to go from the Esso garage on Trinity Street to the town's chemist on Factory Lane West.
