AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a man was stabbed with a broken bottle during a fight in Braintree.
Police were called to reports of two men being assaulted in Fairfield Road in the early hours of the morning.
The two men had been out with friends when they were approached by a group of men who began to talking to them.
A scuffle then broke out and saw a 26-year-old man suffer cuts and puncture wounds to his arms, hands and back.
Police believe he suffered the wounds after he was stabbed with a broken bottle and hit with a belt.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was given 30 staples to his back.
Another man was said to have also suffered minor injuries during the altercation.
The incident happened around 2.30am on Sunday, September 6.
A police spokesman said: "We have reviewed CCTV and there were several people in the area during the attack.
"If you have information call DC Gemma White at Braintree CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/141959/20."
