POLICE have launched an investigation after a woman was sexually assaulted in Braintree.

The victim, who is 25, says she was walking on a cycle path between Sovereign Close and Anson Way when the suspect ran towards her.

The man then pulled her trousers part of the way down before touching her inappropriately.

The victim pushed the man away before he then ran from the scene.

Detectives are appealing for information about the incident, which happened around 7.25pm on Sunday, July 26.

A police spokesman said: "The suspect has been described as being white man, 5’7, of a slim build, pale in complexion and had black hair that was shaved around the sides.

"He wore grey jogging bottoms, a black shiny Puffa coat and was walking a blue Staffordshire bull terrier with a pink collar."
