TWO further deaths related to Covid-19 have been recorded at the trust which runs Colchester Hospital.

In its daily update, NHS England confirmed the deaths took place at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals.

The deaths were announced yesterday and are recorded against the date they happened.

The two deaths of patients diagnosed with the coronavirus took place on Tuesday and Saturday.

This brings the total number of deaths at the hospital trust to 353.

NHS England recorded the deaths of six patients diagnosed with Covid-19 at hospital trusts in the East of England.

It announced a further 19 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in hospitals across the country, bringing the total number of hospital deaths in England to 29,144.

Patients were aged between 52 and 91-years-old and all had underlying health conditions.

Since the launch of Test and Trace, 155,889 close contacts of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been reached and asked to self-isolate.

This is 84 per cent out of a total of 185,401 people identified as close contacts.

The remaining 29,512 people were identified as close contacts, but were not reached.
