THE victim of a motorbike theft has appealed for help to get it back.

Marwen Cherni, 28, of King George’s Avenue, Dovercourt, had his red Honda motorbike stolen from his driveway during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He said it is the third time in 18 months someone had attempted to steal his bike.

“I usually wake up in the middle of the night for water and I always check if my bike is outside, but I couldn’t see it,” he said.

“When I went outside, I only found the security chain cut.

“I’m really upset they stole it as it is still on finance and I’ll have to pay £3,000 for a bike I won’t be using.

“I wasn’t using it for fun but only for work.”

Marwen, who works at McDonalds, in Williamsburg Avenue, Parkeston, is purusing recompense from his insurance company.

He said he was offered a job in Ipswich but now he cannot accept it as he cannot get there.

The bike was bought new in January 2018. It was first stolen a week before Christmas last year, however, Marwen said he later found it dumped in a field.

He added: “The second time they tried to steal it, they broke the ignition, so they just ran away without the bike but it cost me £900 to fix it.”

The incident was reported to the police at 2.40am on Tuesday.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “If anyone has CCTV or doorbell camera footage of the area please call us on 101 or report it online at essex.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime quoting crime reference 42/99981/20.”
