A PRIMARY pupil has helped raise hundreds of pounds to improve her school’s swimming pool.
Jessica Kirkby took on a gruelling challenge in Promenade Park on Saturday to raise £225 for Wentworth School in Maldon.
Bosses want to make essential repairs to the school’s pool and install new wet rooms for pupils.
Jessica, who is eight, wanted to do her bit for the project and asked for people to sponsor her ahead of the challenge.
She set out on a hour-long bike ride around Promenade Park, before then doing a 15 minute jog, a cycle home and 20 cartwheels.
After successfully completing the tasks, Jessica’s mum Jay-Jay said: “She did her challenge with lots of supporters cheering her on.
“We’re still hoping to raise a few more pennies for the school because the swimming pool has been a god send to the children and my daughter has learned to swim just from having lessons through the school.”
The school’s PTA had committed to raise £15,000 for the project through its summer fete, but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. .
