ADULTS with learning disabilities have been left overwhelmed after receiving cards and letters of support from across the UK.

Residents from Acorn Village, a charity for adults with learning disabilities in Mistley, have been given almost 100 cards and letters to cheer them up in lockdown.

The cards have been flooding in since the charity launched an appeal encouraging people to write to the charity's residents.

Kate Williams, commercial development and marketing co-ordinator, for the charity said: "We’ve had nearly 100 letters and cards from all over UK from Scotland to Cornwall with more still coming in, the words of kindness have kept the staff, volunteers and residents motivated during these tough times and we can’t thank the public enough for their support.

"Every single card has been shared via our online support groups for the teams.

"As a charity we’re losing approximately £10,000 a month due to a lack of fundraising opportunities and with our vital key workers working 24/7 these cards really have helped to lift our spirits."
