A POPULAR pub has created a video celebrating its punters and urging them to stay safe during the pandemic.

The Three Pigeons, in Mount Hill, Halstead, was forced to close its doors on March 20 due to the lockdown.

The pub has a close-knit customer base with plenty of regulars. Bosses have now compiled a video while they are forced to stay apart.

The video was released last week on what should have been the first day of the pub’s annual beer festival.

It shows a series of clips of punters having a drink and then seemingly passing the glass on to the next person, to the soundtrack of All Together Now by The Farm.

Landlady Emma Rowles said: “My sister and I decided to make the video to bring a smile to everyone’s face during this tough time.

“I made a phone call to a friend’s daughter, Millie Livesey, to ask for help to put together what I’d planned.

“She knew exactly what I had in mind, so all the videos were sent over and she put the whole thing together.”

The video has been a hit with residents since it was posted on the pub’s Facebook page, with 3,500 views.

Emma said: “The messages came flooding in once the video had been posted. Some said it brought them to tears and others the biggest smile.

“We don’t just have a pub here, we are a family. Everyone always looks out for each other but during this lockdown the support has grown even more.”

The pub is also supporting its customers during the lockdown.

Emma said: “We have a Facebook family support page and a WhatsApp group we use to communicate and help others with shopping or information.

“There is a ring-round service to check on everybody and I even walked round to elderly customers’ homes to check on them as they are not on social media.

“I know I speak for everyone when I say we hope all stay safe and get through this tough time so we can all be together again.”
