THE first coronavirus related death has been confirmed at Halstead Hospital.
Data released by NHS England on Wednesday shows the fatality occurred back on April 13.
Today's data released by NHS England shows the overall total number of deaths in the region now stands at 167.
Another death, which occurred yesterday (Tuesday, May 5), has been recorded at Broomfield Hospital taking its total to 159.
Two have also been announced at St Peter's Hospital in Maldon.
They occurred on April 3 and 5 respectively.
No new deaths have been recorded at Braintree Community Hospital, meaning its total remains at five.
Another 12 hospital patients have died from coronavirus in Essex according to today's figures.
A further six have been confirmed at the East Suffolk and North Essex trust and the other two have been recorded at Southend.
The NHS says another 331 coronavrius deaths have been recorded throughout England in today's numbers.
