A CEREAL snack bar company is set to star on prime-time TV tomorrow as viewers get a special behind-the-scenes look at factory life.

Halstead-based Eat Natural allowed cameras into its ‘Makery’ for the first time in its 22-year history to film BBC show Inside the Factory.

The show is in its fifth series and shows what goes into making some of the UK’s biggest food products.

This Tuesday’s episode focuses on cereal bars and airs at 9pm on BBC2.

Presenter Gregg Wallace, of Masterchef fame, will be taking a look at everything which goes into making one of Eat Natural’s cereal bars.

The company made an astonishing 94 million bars last year with the factory churning out 405,000 bars each day.

They are sold in shops around the UK and exported to 37 countries in Europe and as far afield as the Philippines.

Operations manager Leanne Taylor said: “We’re so much more than just a fruit and nut bar.

“In my 16 years here I’ve worked across the whole business and it was amazing to have the cameras behind the scenes to show the world what we do every day.”

Gregg was impressed by how much is made by hand.

Eat Natural technical manager Lisa Conning said: “I really enjoyed showing people the way we produce our bars, as unlike other larger scale manufacturers we are still really hands-on, which is not the norm in mainstream food production.”

Co-founder Praveen Vijh said the show was “one of the most exciting things” to happen in the history of the firm.

He added: “It’s not rocket science. Simple ingredients, a few human beings, an oven – and a lot of love.”
