A HALSTEAD surgery have announced they will continue to serve residents on the upcoming bank holidays.

The Elizabeth Courtauld surgery in Halstead has limited its services as of late due to the coronavirus but has said it will still endeavour to treat patients over the Easter bank holidays.

This means that Halstead residents can continue to get medical help tomorrow and Monday.

A surgery spokesman said: "Just to let everyone know that the surgery will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday for all your usual healthcare needs and to support our colleagues in 111 and the emergency services.

"Please contact us as you usually would during those times.

"We have capacity to manage all your acute health needs at this time and would ask that you use us as your first line of contact during surgery hours, although obviously please continue to use the NHS Coronavirus website for questions relating to this as per government guidance.

"Please avoid calling 111 unless it is absolutely necessary and 999 unless the condition is life threatening."

The surgery also announced that they will operating at their normal hours.

The surgery will still be following lockdown procedures however, so there is no point turning up to the surgery unless absolutely necessary.

Elizabeth Courtauld first began to roll back its face to face services last month but has since gone further, even locking the doors to the building to protect staff and visitors.

The spokesman added: "All measures will remain in place as per NHS England guidance, reducing the spread of the virus remains the priority.

"Telephone triage will be our primary focus, as it is now.

"If face to face consultations are absolutely necessary then all necessary precautions will be takeniwith use of PPE, masks, aprons, gloves, eye protection and so on.

"We have updated our Facebook page with information on how the surgery is running currently and are endeavouring to keep this up to date if we get new government advice."
