A MAN has appeared in court charged with the death of a beloved biker.

David Norris, 53, died in a crash involving his motorbike and a Seat Ibiza on Ulting Lane, Ulting on March 29 last year.

Mr Norris, from Billericay, suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene and sadly died despite the best efforts of the paramedics.

The Seat driver, Jack Sheeran, of Westwood Drive, West Mersea, appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court charged with causing the death of Mr Norris by driving without due care and attention.

The bench decided that the case was too serious for them to deal with and adjourned for a plea and trial preparation hearing to be heard at Chelmsford Crown Court.

It has been provisionally scheduled for next month.

Sheeran, 24, did not enter any pleas and was handed unconditional bail until his next court appearance.

Paying tribute to Mr Norris in the days after his death, his devastated family said their lives had changed forever following the incident.

“David will be missed forever by so many. He was a beloved life partner, stepfather, grandad and friend," they said.

“He has been taken from us, and our lives have been forever changed.

“His lifelong passion for motorbikes, his thirst for knowledge, and his mantra of ‘if you have a pair of hands, there’s nothing you can’t do’ are just some of the things that made him great, and we are so blessed to have had him in our lives.

"We will love you and miss you forever. Until we meet again."
