A PARISH council braved the weather to stage a winter clean-up.

Members of Heybridge Parish Council got together for the litter blitz after receiving complaints about litter from residents.

Chairman Richard Perry said the council decided to hold the litter pick following concerns over a growing amount of rubbish by the sea wall.

Mr Perry said: “It was a bright but breezy day and the team of litter pickers concentrated on the area along the sea wall.

“It was great to have so many members of the public thank us all for our time and effort.”

The clean-up was led by councillor Jenny Sjollema.

The parish council is to discuss dates for further litter picks in the future.
