POLICE have arrested three teenagers following an assault in Witham.

Essex Police were called to Witham railway station at about 9.15pm on Friday night following reports that three teenagers had been injured.

Two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man are said to have been assaulted with objects.

Officers attended the scene and all three were taken to hospital for treatment but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Not long after the incident, three 18-year-old men were arrested.

One has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent, another on suspicion of GBH with intent and ABH, and the third on suspicion of GBH with intent and trespass on a railway.

All three were being held in custody at the weekend.

Essex Police also want to speak with a woman who is said to have been verbally abused by a group of people near the station before the assault.

Officers are trying to establish the circumstances which led up to the assault and are asking anyone who saw anything, has CCTV or dash cam footage, or any other information to come forward.

Police also want to speak to anyone who saw a group of people in the car park of the nearby Morrison's prior to the incident taking place.
