Police are appealing for information after a serious crash on Burnham Road this morning.

The incident involved a stolen white Mercedes crashing into another person’s car at 4.45 am after failing to stop for Police when directed.

The car then came to a stop on the roundabout at the Rettendon Turnpike and the occupants fled the scene.

A police spokesman said: “We believe they are likely to be injured and we need anyone who may have seen someone injured in the area to contact us.

“Through our initial investigations we have established the vehicle was stolen from a nearby address.”

The other person has not sustained life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

Police are now asking anyone with either information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

They added: “The A132 Burnham Road is currently partially closed while we investigate and is likely to be closed for at least the next two to three hours.

“We need anyone who saw anything or has dash cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting incident 108.”
