A NUMBER of changes to First bus services will come into play in Colchester this week.

First has reviewed the use of bus services across north Essex.

The 75B service from Colchester to Essex University via Greenstead will be withdrawn due to poor usage.

Services 64 and 64A to Greenstead will operate to a more frequent timetable to make up for this.

The 97 and 98 services from Colchester to Walton via Clacton will also be withdrawn.

First said: “The section of route between Colchester and Wivenhoe via Magdalen Street and University of Essex will be covered by revised services 62B and 62C.

“The evening and Sunday tendered journeys on services 7, 8, 74B and 76 will continue to operate.

“Hedingham has announced on their website they intend to operate a replacement service between Colchester, Clacton and Walton.”

There will be an improved Sunday service for the number 61 from Highwoods to Wivenhoe. Buses will be operating along this route every 20 minutes.

The 62 service from Colchester North Station and Brightlingsea will be revised.

A more frequent timetable will operate up to every ten minutes between North Station and Wivenhoe with three buses per hour continuing to Brightlingsea.

Between Essex University and Colchester town centre, three buses per hour will operate via East Hill and three buses per hour via Hythe Hill and Magdalen Street, replacing services 97 and 98 along this section of route.

An extra Sunday service 62C will operate every hour between Colchester town centre and the university, via Hythe Hill and Magdalen Street.

The Monday to Friday timetable for the 64 service from Greenstead to Shrub End will see buses every eight minutes.
