A CHRISTMAS drive-in cinema is arriving in town alongside a Christmas market to bring in the festive season.

Maldon’s popular Christmas market will be hosting the event which will air the festive family favourite Elf on Saturday.

The evening will invite visitors to get into the festive spirit from the comfort and warmth of their own cars.

A spokesman for the event said: “This is the second ever drive-in cinema held on the Prom and the second year that we have operated it.

“Last year’s film was Home Alone which was really well received and attended by the community.

“This year’s drive-in cinema is set to be as equally amazing.

“The films are aired on a 21 square metre LED screen which gives a fantastic picture quality in daytime and evening.

“The sound is distributed into attending cars via Bluetooth speakers that give great quality sound for all to enjoy.”

Afterwards, cinemagoers can indulge in some Christmas shopping at the Promenade Christmas market.

The spokesman added: “The festive market is also being operated by our team and will be open to all the public from 1pm until 5pm.

“We have an amazing variety of festive foods, drinks, treats and handmade gifts.

“This is a great opportunity to get into the festive spirit and enjoy some time in the Prom, also with the addition of being able to purchase some great gifts that are from local providers.

“Within the market there will be reindeer and a sleigh which is the chance for all families to have a close encounter and pet Rudolph before his busy Christmas Eve.”

Tickets for the drive-in cinema cost £29.95-£37.50 per vehicle and entry to the mini Christmas market is free.
