POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 90-year-old woman was assaulted.

Two women forced their way into the victim’s home in Station Road, Tiptree, when she answered the front door at about 8.30pm yesterday, December 12.

She was assaulted and suffered cuts to her hands. Her injuries were not serious but she was left very shaken.

It is not known whether anything was stolen from the address.

The suspects were described as two white women, possibly aged in their 30s, who wore jackets with fur trimmed hoods.

Detective Inspector Kev Hughes said: “This was a nasty and cowardly attack on an elderly woman.

“I’d like to hear from anyone who in the area at the time.

“Were you driving along Station Road between 8pm and 9pm and saw two women matching the descriptions of the suspects, or have any dash cam footage?

“I’m also keen to hear from anyone living in the area who has CCTV or doorbell cameras that might have captured footage of them.”
