A LAW firm helped deliver Christmas cheer to some of the most impoverished people in Colchester by donating 100 gifts to the town's food bank.

Attwells Solicitors supported Colchester Food Bank by delivering treats including selection boxes, biscuits and Christmas puddings.

The gifts will be handed out to people struggling to make ends meet this festive season.

Atwells is also taking part in Christmas Jumper Day today in aid of Headway, which works with people across Essex to support people who have suffered a brain injury.

Lloyd Clarke, spokesman for the firm, said: "Attwells are delighted to support Colchester Food Bank this Christmas, a cause close to my own heart having lived in Colchester my entire life.

"The work Colchester Food Bank does is crucial in supporting those in need in the local community, particularly at a time of year which is synonymous with goodwill towards others.

"Attwells are and always have been keen to work with charities and the communities in which their offices are based, to provide whatever help we can in making a real difference”.

Ann Barney, from Colchester Food Bank said: “At this time of year we see more clients as the weather has turned colder and the decisions of whether to eat or heat have to be made.

"We are already seeing more clients especially leading up to and over the Christmas period and the items donated will go a little way to help clients have a better Christmas.”
