SCOUTS were over the moon when they had a surprise guest at their fundraiser.
The 1st Coggeshall Scouts were set a challenge to turn £1 into as much money as possible.
In a bid to boost funds the younger scouts worked together to make cakes.
They set up a stall and sold them near the Co-op in Coggeshall.
The Scouts were thrilled when singing sensation Olly Murs turned up to buy a cake.
Alex Spragg, one of the Scouts, said: “It was awesome when Olly turned up.
“We were all really surprised.”
The Scouts raised more than £150 from their cake sale.
This money will be split between a charity of the their choice and their last group meeting.
Louise Edwards, group scout leader, said it was a surprise to see Olly Murs spend time with the Scouts.
Witham boy Olly, who also went to Notley High School, first came to national attention for coming second in the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009.
As of December 2014, Murs has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
He attended Howbridge Junior School in Witham and Notley High School in Braintree.
