A school was put into lockdown after armed police were called to an estate in Braintree.
Residents reported seeing up to 10 officers carrying guns near to Churchill Road while they were responding to an incident this afternoon.
Tabor Academy was reportedly put into lockdown due to the incident.
The school has since posted a statement on its website to say it is safe for pupils to be released and go home.
It read: "Dear parents/carers, I would like to inform you that we were made aware of an incident going on locally.
"We have been in contact with the police and have been advised that it is safe for the children to be released to go home."
Suffolk Police has confirmed it was conducting an operation in connection with a stabbing.

The force says a 29-year-old man was arrested and has been taken into custody for questioning.
