IPSWICH Town player James Norwood took to the ring in a special wrestling event for charity.

The charity night was held in Kingsway Hall, Dovercourt, on Wednesday night in front of a near sell out crowd with proceedings going to Cancer Research UK.

A mixture of devoted Ipswich Town fans and International Pro Wrestling League regulars turned up in their numbers to see Norwood and their favourite wrestlers in action.

The event included some international wrestlers, along with YouTube star Simon Miller.

Norwood's wrestling debut came after his wrestling themed football celebrations racked up 1.4 million hits online.

For the event, he featured as the special guest enforcer.

James Norwood, said it was an "unbelievable" experience.

He said: “You can tell these guys put the work in and they made it so easy for me, explaining what I need to do and how I needed to do it.

"There was a mixture of Ipswich Town and wresting fans here.

"Everyone took to the wrestling and it was great to see, hopefully in the future there will be a crossover with both sets fans coming to more games and events.

"Cancer Research UK is a charity really close to my heart and it was great to see everyone come together for a great cause."
