A VILLAGE came together to celebrate its rural heritage with a traditional country fair.

Bell Meadow Day was held in Woodham Walter on Sunday.

Now in its 15th year, the fair, held in Church Hill, has become a popular event in the Essex summer diary.

The event was organised by the Bell Meadow Village Association.

Live music played throughout the day, including an appearance from For Funk Sake who performed a set at last year’s event.

Arena activities included dog displays and a canine beauty contest.

To keep little ones entertained, there was a pets’ corner, pony rides, children’s entertainment and a bouncy castle.

The Bell Meadow Village Association was formed on behalf of the Woodham Mortimer with Hazeleigh Parish Council in 2005 by a group of volunteers with a keen interest in Bell Meadow after it was gifted to the village.

Bell Meadow Day has now become an annual event, held on the Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend, when the whole village comes together to celebrate its rural heritage and to warmly welcome visitors.
