HUNDREDS of revellers packed into a popular festival which offered entertainment for everyone.

The Eight Ash Green Music Festival was held for the the 13th time on Saturday and attracted more than 1,200 people.

The annual free extravaganza featured performances from talented music acts, a show from top magician Michael J Fitch, stalls for youngsters and much more.

Despite the threat of rainy weather, the crowds packed into the Fordham Heath field.

Catherine Warner, who is on the festival committee, hailed the event as yet another huge success.

She said: “We have to start setting up on Wednesday and Thursday and the weather was not great on Friday.

“We had to put some rainproof things in place and we decided we would embrace it.

“As soon as the festival opened on Saturday there was this torrential downpour but then the rain cleared away and everyone had an amazing time.

“It is a free event but we stand at the entrances and ask for donations and people are really generous.

“We would not be able to put the event on year after year if it wasn’t for people dipping into their pockets.

“Some of the money is also given to community groups - including the friendship club which supports elderly people get together more and socialise.”
