A shopping centre is set to be completely renamed to coincide with a major revamp.

Bosses at the Freeport outlet in Braintree say the centre will be renamed Braintree Village to mark 20 years since it was first opened.

Guests to Braintree Village will be welcomed with a completely new image to reflect the centre’s "ongoing evolution."

Centre Manager Josef O’Sullivan said: “We have been part of this great community for 20 years and what better way to celebrate than with a fresh new look.

“Our new name is an important milestone for us, and it is just the start as we embark on an exciting transformation. First impressions count, so it’s only right that our name and values reflect what we have to offer for new and loyal guests, as well as the local community.”

The shopping centre, which opened in 1999, says it will continue to offer "premium brands at outlet prices", as well as supporting independent retailers such as Roo’s and Florin Flowers.

Braintree and Witham Times:

In recent years, Braintree Village has welcomed the likes of Osprey London, Jack Wills, Dune London and Bill’s.

Josef added: “Our offer is unique in the region, providing an outlet shopping and dining destination with a difference.

"We are also at the heart of an exceptional community, which we are keen to continue supporting with events, partnerships and charitable initiatives as we progress through our transformation.”
