A teenager has been ordered to spend dozens of weeks in a young offenders institute for continually stealing from supermarkets.
Rory Lockley-Steward, 19, admitted to a string of thefts during a hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates Court last Monday.
In total, Lockley-Steward, of Chaucer Crescent, Braintree, confessed to eight different counts of theft, and was given three weeks in a young offenders institute for each offence.
These were:
- On Februuary 9, 2019, he stole four rump steaks worth £15 from the One Stop store in Braintree
- On February 16, 2019, he stole two four packs of Stella pint cans worth £11.50 from the Co op in Braintree.
- On January 31, 2019, he stole one box of Whiskers cat food, two king size packs of Stella lager and one pack of Cadbury chocolate worth £15.50 from the Co op in Challis Lane, Braintree.
- On February 17, 2019, he stole two boxes of 12 Stella bottles worth £18 from the Co op.
- On January 25, 2019 he stole various items of a value unknown, belonging to the Co op.
- On February 17, 2019, he stole two, four packs of Stella pint cans and one pack of Whiskas senior cat food to the value of £16 from the Co op.
- On March 8, 2019, he stole alcohol and meat products worth £100 belonging to the Co op.
- On March 7, 2019, he stole meat products and alcohol worth £50 from the Co op.
Magistrates ordered Lockley-Steward to serve a total of 24 weeks in a young offenders institute and pay £226 in compensation.
