A town centre road was cordoned off after a man was found with stab wounds. 

George Street, Colchester, is blocked between the High Street and George Street Snooker Club.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called by the ambulance service shortly before 9.55pm on Sunday 10 February and the 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with wounds to his back. 

"His injuries were serious but not believed to be life threatening. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we are looking into whether there are any links with the death of a man who was found in Ryegate Road shortly after 8.20am today, Monday 11 February.

A man was treated by the police in the scene this morning and an ambulance was called.

A Gazette reporter saw another man be arrested by officers in nearby West Stockwell Street following a foot chase.
