A £10,000 donation has been handed to Colchester Hospital’s Cancer Centre Campaign.
Colchester League of Hospital and Community Friends runs shops, newspaper rounds, shop trolleys and a guidance service at the hospital.
The group ploughs profits back into the hospital and has now handed over £10,000 towards the new £3.25million facility.
More than £2.7million has been raised since the Gazette-backed Cancer Centre Campaign began.
League of Friends chairman Frank Jordan handed over the donation to Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals’ Charity.
Work on the site - called the Collingwood Centre - will begin in the new year and £250,000 is still needed in donations.
