A MAN was threatened with a gun while being robbed of his mobile telephone in Clacton.

Police were called to the Vista Road recreation ground following reports of a robbery at around 7.10pm on Tuesday.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was not hurt during the incident.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Vista Road.

"We received reports that a man was walking across a field near to Clacton Leisure Centre when two men wearing dark hoodies approached him and threatened him with what has been described as a gun.

"The men, who had scarves covering their faces, left with his mobile, identification and keys.

"The victim, who is aged in his 20s, was unhurt and walked home before we were called.

"We attended and searched the area but were unable to locate the men described."

The first man is described as being 6ft, of a slim build and wore a black hoodie, grey tracksuit bottoms and a blonde fringe showing. This man had the gun in his waistband.

The second man is described as being 5ft 8ins, of a stockier build and he was wearing black jogging bottoms and a black top.
