A man has died following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The crash took place in Colchester Road, Thorpe, at around 10.20pm on Friday.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and are asking the public for any dashcam footage around the time of the crash.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called with reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a silver Citroen Xsara Picasso on Colchester Road around 10.20pm.

"Officers and paramedics arrived and the man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance, where later, he sadly died.

"We would like to talk to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision and has dashcam footage or information."

Any witnesses should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 1361.
