Police are expected to keep a road where a fatal crash happened closed until this evening.

The accident in Blue Mills Hill in Wickham Bishops happened shortly after 11pm yesterday.

When they attended they found a silver Ford Fiesta and a black BMW 520 which had been in collision.

Both vehicles had left the road and the Fiesta had come to rest in a hedge.

Sadly, the driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five people have been arrested.

In a tweet Inspector Rob Brettell, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the road would be closed until 3pm.

But this afternoon Essex Police confirmed it would remain closed until the evening.

On Twitter the force said: "Blue Mills Hill in #WickhamBishops is expected to remain closed into this evening following last night's fatal collision.

"Please avoid the area if you can and plan your journey."
