AN Australian film crew has travelled more than 10,000 miles to meet Braintree's famous doppelgangers.

Camera's from Seven Network met with retired priest Neil Richardson and retired headteacher John Jemison to film for a programme about people who look extremely alike.

The duo took part in four days worth of filming for the show which ended with a poetry reading at St. Peter's in Bocking this morning.

Mr Richardson, 72, said: "It's been good fun, they were looking for people to be on the programme and found the articles about us online.

"They got in touch with the Friends of Braintree Museum, which we're both part of, and asked if we could be put in touch."

An appearance in front of the Australian cameras is the latest in a long line of media appearances for the pair who found international fame in 2015.

Their likeness has seen them interviewed for NPR in New York and they've also hit the headlines right across the world.

Mr Richardson said: "It began when I moved to Braintree and people kept waving at me and asking me how I was while calling me John.

"We'd both signed up to the Friends of Braintree Museum and we finally met on board a coach before a trip to London.

"People still stop us in the street, we enjoy it and it's something which people find amusing so it's all good fun."
